Viva Network Zimbabwe

Kicking out drugs and violence against children, one goal at a time

Hatcliffe was filled with energy and purpose on Saturday, 2 August 2025, as Viva Network Zimbabwe joined the first-ever HFA Girls Tournament at Bomba Power Stadium. The theme said it all “Stop Drug and Substance Abuse, Stop GBV, and Let’s Promote the Girl Child and Support Children’s Rights.” And from start to finish, the message rang loud and clear.

The event brought together young people, local leaders, and partners to use sport as a tool for change. What started as a football tournament quickly became a powerful community moment, one that gave girls a platform to shine, to speak, and to be celebrated.

The day opened with an exciting Under-13 boys match and built momentum from there. But beyond the goals and cheers, the tournament carried a deeper purpose. It called attention to the growing dangers of drug abuse and gender-based violence while showing that girls deserve protection, opportunity, and support.

Viva Network Zimbabwe was honoured to stand alongside passionate partners including YASD, NAC, DMO, YPN, Vision Sports, City of Harare, and government ministries focused on youth, women, and sport. Together, we showed what real partnership looks like when children are at the heart of it.

Guest of Honour Mrs. Machumi, representing the Ministry of Sport, Arts and Recreation, delivered a heartfelt message celebrating the commitment of all who showed up for the girl child. Her words reminded everyone that change begins when we act and when we act together.

The event had it all: football, food, celebration, and heartfelt moments and it was made even more special by the presence of Sir Robert, who kept the energy alive as the MC.

For Viva, this event was more than just a day out. It was a declaration that we are here for children especially girls and that we are committed to building safe, supportive spaces where they can thrive. The first edition of the HFA Girls Tournament was a clear success. And this is just the beginning.
