Community Helps Us Feel We Belong and Stay Mentally Healthy
Being part of a community is good for mental health. It helps people feel supported, connected, and less alone. For children especially, community plays a big role in how safe and valued they feel.
Today’s message reminds us of the importance of connection.
When people talk, share, and spend time with others, stress is reduced and emotional pressure is eased. Feeling that you belong helps protect the mind and gives strength during difficult times.
When children grow up feeling isolated or excluded, they may struggle with loneliness, fear, or low confidence. But when they are part of a group, they learn that they matter and that they are not alone. Community helps children build confidence, trust, and healthy relationships.
Being part of a community:
Helps reduce stress and loneliness
Builds a sense of belonging
Encourages sharing and support
Creates safe spaces for children and adults
Community can be found in many places. It can be at home, at church, at school, or through activities like Viva Sport. What matters most is connection and inclusion.
This Mental Health Month, let us strengthen our communities. Let us talk, share, and support one another, so that children and families grow up feeling valued, included, and emotionally healthy
