Running Together for Child Protection

On the fresh, cool morning of 26 July 2025, Highlands Primary School buzzed with energy and unity as Harare City Council hosted an inspiring marathon event in partnership with Viva Network Zimbabwe and other stakeholders. This special occasion brought together staff, volunteers, and partners from different organizations to run, cheer, and connect, all for one powerful cause: building stronger support systems for children.

From the starting gun at 6:00 AM until the final cheers at 9:30 AM, the marathon was more than just a test of fitness. It was a celebration of teamwork, resilience, and the incredible impact we can create when we work side by side.

Harare City Council and Viva Network Zimbabwe proudly joined forces for this unique event. Participants competed in various race categories, with winners celebrated and awarded, spreading smiles and motivation among everyone involved.

This event was a strong reminder that collaboration multiplies impact. Running together, these organizations showed how sharing resources, responsibilities, and goals makes the journey easier and more meaningful. When people unite for a shared mission, especially one that protects and uplifts children… the message is clear: we are stronger together.

Beyond the race, the marathon raised public awareness about child protection, life skills, and social inclusion. Every step taken was a step toward creating safe, supportive environments where children can grow, thrive, and have their voices heard.

While not all invited organizations could attend, the spirit of unity was alive and strong throughout the morning. Viva Network Zimbabwe is committed to reaching out to those who missed this time and building even more partnerships for future events.
