Forgive openly, it helps you and your children heal and grow
Children often feel deep guilt when they make mistakes. Even small actions can feel heavy in their hearts, especially when they fear disappointing adults or being rejected.
Today’s message reminds us that how adults respond to children’s mistakes shapes their emotional health.
When adults shout, shame, or harshly punish, children may learn to associate mistakes with fear, rejection, or worthlessness. But when adults choose forgiveness, calm correction, and guidance, children learn something far more powerful: mistakes are part of learning, and love does not disappear when things go wrong.
Forgiveness teaches children that:
- Making mistakes does not define their worth
- They can learn, improve, and grow
- Adults can be safe and supportive even in difficult moments
- Guilt does not have to turn into shame
This approach protects a child’s mental well-being. It helps them build confidence, resilience, and a healthy sense of self. Forgiveness does not remove responsibility, it creates space for learning without fear.
This Mental Health Month, let us choose correction with compassion, discipline with dignity, and forgiveness with love. When children feel forgiven, their minds stay healthier, their hearts stay open, and their growth becomes possible.
