When someone brings their issues to you, listen, it heals them.
Today’s message reminds us of a powerful truth: you don’t have to fix someone to support them you only need to listen.
Across families, friendships, schools and communities, many people carry heavy emotions silently. Children, young people, and adults alike often just need a safe space to speak without fear of judgment, correction, or interruption.
Listening is not about giving advice.
Listening is not about solving problems.
Listening is about saying, “I see you. I hear you. Your feelings matter.”
When we listen with kindness:
- We help others feel valued and respected
- We reduce feelings of loneliness and isolation
- We create emotional safety, especially for children
- We build trust and stronger relationships
For children in particular, being listened to builds confidence and emotional resilience. It teaches them that their thoughts matter and that they are not alone in their struggles.
This Mental Health Month, let us slow down, put aside distractions, and truly listen — at home, in church, at school, and in our communities. Sometimes, the greatest healing begins with silence, attention, and compassion.
Together, we can create safer spaces where children and families feel heard, supported, and strengthened.
