Prayer led by and for children
World Weekend of Prayer
Held each year during the first weekend of June, the World Weekend of Prayer creates space for children to lead prayer, worship and advocacy for children facing risk around the world.

Children take an active role
The activity is intentionally prayer with children, not simply prayer about them. Children can help shape themes, lead worship, name concerns and pray for their peers, with safe and age-appropriate support from adults.
Prayer that encourages action
Gatherings can help churches and communities listen more closely to children, recognise risks affecting them and renew practical commitments to protection, dignity and participation.
Putting it into practice
A safe, locally owned pathway.
Participation should be planned with VNZ and relevant network members, using current guidance and appropriate safeguarding arrangements.
- Gather churches, organisations, children and caregivers.
- Use the current theme and planning resources from Viva.
- Create safe, meaningful roles for children to lead.
- Share learning and follow through on concerns raised.
