Global Youth Platform Zimbabwe
GYP Zimbabwe is a stand-alone, youth-led initiative under VNZ where young people develop leadership, exchange ideas and design practical responses to social and digital injustices affecting children and young people.
A global beginning
Young leaders learning across borders.
GYP Zimbabwe was established through an international initiative involving young people from Zimbabwe, Denmark, Honduras and the Philippines. Local and global Impact Academies, online learning, youth summits and practical campaigns developed skills in leadership, communication, volunteerism, research, advocacy and campaign design.
Two Zimbabwean youth representatives carried this experience into the Global Youth Summit in Denmark, connecting locally identified priorities with wider youth learning.
How the platform works
Learning becomes youth-led action.
Online participation is combined with physical meetings and community activity so limited access to devices or connectivity does not exclude young people.

Impact Academies and peer learning build practical leadership, research and communication skills.

Young leaders exchange ideas locally and internationally, working across different experiences and contexts.

Participants identify injustice affecting their communities and shape relevant campaigns and interventions.

A safer digital world
Preventing online sexual abuse and exploitation.
GYP Zimbabwe has particularly focused on the online safety of children. Youth volunteers raise awareness about cybersecurity, the Cyber and Data Protection Act and available referral pathways for child-protection concerns.
Campaigns reach young people and communities through social media, schools, churches, posters, flyers, videos and face-to-face activities.

A distinct identity and a real place to lead.
A GYP Committee coordinates volunteers, supports activities, gathers feedback and promotes accountability. This youth-led structure enables participants to identify issues in their communities and contribute directly to planning and implementation.
GYP empowers young people not only to participate in programmes, but to influence decisions and take collective action for a safer, fairer and more inclusive society.
The approach is grounded in volunteerism, peer-to-peer learning, creativity, collaboration and inclusion.
