Youth leadership & safe communities

Viva Sport & life skills

Sport can be more than a game: it can become a safe place for belonging, mentoring and practical learning.

Why it matters

Combining safe play, mentoring and life skills to build confidence, belonging and leadership.

Children and young people need inclusive spaces where they can build relationships, confidence and skills while trusted adults model safe behaviour.

Our approach

Local capability. Connected systems.

Viva Sport combines structured play with safeguarding, life-skills learning and youth leadership through trained churches and community partners.

Viva Sport uses regular, structured activity as a trusted setting for relationships and learning. Trained leaders place safeguarding, inclusion and age-appropriate participation at the centre.

What this can include

From commitment to everyday practice.

Activities are adapted with local partners to the context, risks and strengths of each community.

  • 01Safeguarded sport and recreation
  • 02Life-skills sessions within regular activities
  • 03Training and support for coaches and volunteers
  • 04Peer leadership and community events
  • 05Referral when a child needs additional support

Meaningful participation

Children have a voice in the work that affects them.

Young people contribute ideas, lead appropriate activities and learn teamwork and advocacy. Safety is designed into coaching, supervision and feedback.

Safeguarding comes first. We do not publish identifying case details, and sensitive concerns follow dedicated reporting and referral pathways.
